Janathon Day 25 – Walking it off!

0

Well I had planned to do some weights today but I woke up with a pinched nerve in my shoulder which is rather painful and making my whole right arm ache! I am blaming it on the day of study I did the day before and all the hand writing (and nothing to do with the exercising I’ve been doing).

Walk
Beautiful Day for a Walk

So instead I went for a walk , as it was a really beautiful morning – managing over 7000+ steps by 9:30am – so with my busy day of the Blue Ones football and then the Pink and Blue Ones swimming lessons I managed to go over 10,000+ steps today!

Janathon Day 26 – Feeling under the weather!

Today is the hubby’s birthday! He had the day off from work, so as a treat, once the small people had been dropped off at school and nursery, we walked to the local café and both had an extremely yummy cooked breakfast – it was so good!

Mmmm, Breakfast and The Birthday Boy!
Mmmm, Breakfast and The Birthday Boy!

Today is usually a running day for me, I really enjoy my 6km runs, but I’ve not been feeling the greatest the last day or two, feel like I’m coming down with a cold, so instead the hubby and I went for a very nice stroll together after our breakfast – it was rather windy but the rain hadn’t started yet!

Had a slight technology mishap – MapMyWalk showed that we’d walked 1.16km in 34 seconds and as the crow flies, now I know we have a brisk pace, but I assure we are not super human!!! haha!!!

Walk
Technology Fail!!!

I checked on another map and worked out we covered approximately 2.8km and did it in about 30 minutes. It was a very pleasant walk – really did miss my run though, but the way I’m feeling it wouldn’t have gone too well!

Hope I’m on the mend soon – liking all the exercise, but it’s so much harder to do when feeling all tired and achy – and probably not a good idea to do either!

What makes you feel better when you’re under the weather!? :-) xxx

Janathon Day 27 – The Lemsip Lift!

Feeling so rough this morning I had to cancel the swimming session I’d organised with my friend. Felt so disappointed, as if I was letting myself down, though I knew it would be silly to go and I would have ended up putting my confidence back, so it was a sensible decision but just wish I’d felt well enough to go.

I even got the hubby to do the school and nursery drop off this morning, so my minimal exercise today was walking to collect the Blue One from nursery and then another walk to collect the Pink One from school!

I also did the Lemsip Lift!!! A kettle full of water is heavy (didn’t waste water, as doing the kids pasta at the same time)
Lemsip Lift1. Filled and put the kettle on
2. Get sachet of Lemsip
3. Open sachet and pour contents into mug
4. Lemsip powder in the mug
5. Add boiled water
6. Stir
7. Add cold water and get ready to drink
8. Down it as quickly as possible
There was a 9th image of the compulsory grimace but no one needed to see that ‘delightful’ image of me!

Really hoping I feel better tomorrow as I want to go to my Boxercise class – but we’ll have to see what the day brings! :-) xxx

Janathon Day 28 – Boxercise is the Best!

Even though I’m still feeling a bit ropey with this cold/virus I really wanted to go to my Boxercise class in the evening! After a slight anxiety break this morning – a spilt bowl of cereal was the straw that broke the camel’s back – I also really NEEDED my Boxercise!!!

Tonight’s session was hard going – after warming up we had ropes going across the hall – we had to weave under and jab, then high knee run back – repeated three times!
IMG_8631

Then we had to weave and hook – moving back using lunges – repeated again three times!
IMG_8632

After these we did a leg session – there was leg lifts, leg kicks and then side leg lifts, slow then really fast – I found this section very hard going, after a few days of no exercise and my cold!

Next up was an arm session – two jabs with each hand, two hooks with each hand, two uppers with each hand and two lower uppers with each hand, followed by a one with each had and this was repeated five times! Then a boxers bounce and do it again – so four lots of five!!! Swap – repeat! Woo!!!
IMG_8629

Then paired up again for ten fast jabs – sprint to the end of the hall, kneel down, and then punch the punch pad on the floor or, and I quote “punch the shit out of it!” – repeat three times and then do again with ten hooks!

Finally some upper work, roll down into a push up position and lower for a count of eight (I managed to four), they repeated for five times, but I managed two as when getting back up it hurt my knees!

Roll down to a push up position and then twist to the side and up to the count of ten, roll back up, and then repeated three times!

Time for a cool down! It’s was a good session – much needed and did improve my mood – just hope this virus buggers off!!! Hate feeling so achy!

Yay for Boxercise!!! :-) xxx

Janathon Day 29 – Walkies

After yesterdays exertions at my beloved Boxercise, and the fact this virus still seems to be hanging around, I thought I’d take it very easy today so it was a very gentle walk!
IMG_8640

I very excitingly had prescriptions to pick up anyway, so a walk in the wind and the drizzle it was! I did actually do slightly more than 1.53km, but I turned MapMyWalk off in the pharmacists and forgot to put it back on for my amble home – but it wasn’t exactly far!!!

There is light at the end of the Janathon tunnel – nearly there! :-) xxx

Janathon Day 31 – And this Little Janathoner went Wii all the Way Home!

Whew! I made it, 31 days of exercise and far harder 31 days of blogging!!!

So for the final hurrah I did 30 minute on the Wii as I didn’t use it for the entire of the rest of Janathon! Below are a couple of embarrassing videos for you to view!

IMG_8704Happy Janathon everyone and well done for making it!!!

So will you be signing up for Juneathon!?! :-) xxx

Janathon 2017 – Week 1 Round Up

So it’s that time again – Janathon time! This year I am giving it my all! Working out every day (some days more gently as it’s important to let the body recover too!) – and I am also aiming to get in 10,000 steps every day as well (though will be satisfied if I manage 5 out of 7 days for this!)

So what have I been up to for the first seven days, well if you follow me on Instagram you probably already have an idea, but here are a few more details!

Day 1 – New Years Day
Double parkrun (Greenwich – Avery Hill Park and Bexley – Danson Park) with my lovely friend Helen of helsbels.org – we started 2016 off in the same way, and I think it’s a great way to start the year!

new-years-day-parkrunI felt such a sense of achievement after completing the second one. Considering I don’t run as regularly, what this did illustrate to me is that all my other workouts do pay off. I wasn’t particularly fast, but I ran both parkruns relatively comfortably, though my right ankle was aching by the second one (might be time for some new trainers – I hate change) and I did manage to turn my ankle, but both times were faster than last new years so that’s good enough for me!

Step Count: 18,874

Day 2

Managed a 7.5km walk – it was so lovely! Cold and crisp, and the sky was so clear, could see the moon and Venus!

evening-walkStep Count: 10,125

Day 3

Circuits workout – 30 secs of mountain climbers, bridges, squat thrusts and bicycles with a 30 second rest repeated four times! 😊x

Step Count: 4,321

Day 4

I did a fitness blender kickboxing workout – can definitely feel it in my arms and shoulders today! I did get in 10,000 steps as well! Wohoo! 😜x

Step Count: 10,678

Day 5

First Boxercise session, with Foxee Fitness, back after the Christmas break and it was good! Managed 6,217 steps – not quite my 10,000 a day goal! But never mind!

Step Count: 6,217

Day 6

A short 7 minute workout – as it was my ‘rest day’ and I managed 12,658 steps – woohoo! So far managed 4 days out of 6 of 10k steps a day, hoping I can do today as well and get 5 out of 7! 😊🤞🏻

Step Count: 12,658

Day 7

Workout 1 of week 3 of cycle 3 of the Alex Crockford 12 week homefit plan. This is the fitness test part of the plan and I pretty chuffed as this was the first time I actually completed this version where you start with 10 reps of each exercise going down until one of each exercise – it was tough going, but glad I made it!

Step Count: 11,164

Total Step Count: 84,068

So that’s it for week one – how did you get on with the first week of Janathon? 🙂 x

Janathon 2017 – Week 2 Round Up

So a little round up of Janathon week 2 – sorry for the delay in publishing, I have been monumentally busy, but loving all my exercise!

Day 8

Alex Crockford Cycle 3 workout 2 – 45 secs with 15 secs rest – jump lunges, static sprint, shoulder presses, 180 degree frog squat jumps and side lunges – repeated 4 times. Then 15 split squats, each leg, repeated 3 times!

Step Count: 10,031

Day 9

I was in equal parts and terrified and excited by my first ever 1-2-1 PowerWave session.  This is an intense 20 minute workout, doing 4 sets of 5 exercises.  Each exercise is carried out for 50 seconds with a 10 second rest, there is no rest between sets – oh yes, and all whilst holding a 20kg bag, easy right!?! Haha!!! I loved every second of it – though knew I was going to ache in places I never knew even existed afterwards.  I also walked there and home again, so by 11am I had covered my 10,000 steps for the day! Woohoo!!!

My PowerWave instructor, Jemma Clews, is absolutely phenomenal – the perfect combination of encouragement and sergeant major to get you trhough the workout and make you truly believe you can do this!!! I highly recommend her!

Step Count: 17,760

Day 10

I did this workout extremely gently as I was decidedly sore after my amazing PowerWave session the day before, but I did find that this workout helped stretch my aching muscles – also went for a long walk, which I always find helps – and got me over my 10,000 steps target for the day.

Step Count: 15,339

Day 11

Still quite sore, but wanted to get a workout in, so continued on with my Alex Crockford homefit plan

Step Count: 8,796

Day 12

Today was meant to have been Boxercise with Foxee Fitness, but unfortunately due to the snow making driving conditions dangerous it was cancelled, so a Fitness Blender workout to the rescue.  It was a Kickboxing and Abs workout and made me thoroughly sweaty, so it must have been good! 😛

Step Count: 5,694

Day 13

Today was my rest day, but I couldn’t not do anything, so found a nice stretching routine on Fitness Blender – which was very enjoyable and exactly what I needed! Bliss!

Step Count: 9,118 – Argh so close!!!

Day 14

Fitness test again – and I was chuffed to shave 50 seconds off my time from the previous week!

Step Count: 8,051

Total Step Count: 74,789

So how have you got on with Janathon so far? Managed to do some exercise everyday? 🙂 xxx

Janathon 2017 – Week 3 Round Up

So delayed in publishing this! Almost the end of the final week of Janathon! Oh well, here’s my week three synopsis!

Day 15

Really enjoying all the Alex Crockford workouts – they’re hard but a great start to the day – this is just a small snippet!

Step Count: 4,385 – pitiful!

Day 16

This was only my second PowerWave session, but I already love them.  I can see how they are going to improve my strength and overall fitness, which is fantastic! My instructor is so good, which makes them especially good.

Step Count: 19,089 – that’s more like it!

Day 17

Spider press ups – as if normal press ups aren’t tough enough! 😛

Step Count: 17,089

Day 18

This was the last workout from my Alex Crockford homefit 1 12 week plan – but all is good, I’ve already invested in homefit 2!!!

Step Count: 10,047

Day 19

I love that I attend one class a week and get to meet with other people, I have been attending these Boxercise sessions with Foxlee Fitness for over a year and still enjoy going and have made some great friends through them!

Step Count: 7,197

Day 20

Truly I should probably have two rest days a week, but at the moment I only have one and I feel my body is coping with this, and I use that day to have a wonderful stretch, and the stretch workouts from the Fitness Blender are perfect for this.  If I feel I am doing too much I’ll ensure I add another day in for rest, I listen to my body and at the moment I am feeling pretty great!

Step Count: 6,668

Day 21

This was unbelievably tough – it equated to 120 squat jumps, 90 burpees, 60 push ups and 30 sit ups – split into three separate sets.  It was so hard!  The Fitness Test for the first day of my Alex Crockford homefit2 12 week plan!

Step Count: 8,084

Total Step Count: 72,559 – pretty chuffed with my step count, just need to keep it going…

So what’s been your favourite workout? 🙂 xxx

Step Count: 7,257

Day 29

Some slow motion!

Step Count: 7,830
